Perseuss and europol strengthen cooperation

On February 28, Maarten Alleman, CEO of Perseuss and the head of Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) Steven Wilson, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the cooperation.

Europol is the European Union’s law enforcement agency and supports the 28 EU Member States in their fight against terrorism, cybercrime and other serious and organised forms of crime. During the annual Global Airline Action Days (GAAD), a major international law enforcement operation targeting airline fraudsters, Europol coordinates the cross-border investigations. Perseuss has been working with Europol for over 5 years now, detecting fraud patterns and providing relevant data to facilitate the Global Airline Action Days.

According to Steven Wilson, public-private partnership initiatives such as the Global Airline Action Days are of crucial importance when it comes to fighting organised crime. On the signing of the MoU he said: “Perseuss has been one of our closest partners in this area and this Memorandum of Understanding is a great opportunity to further strengthen our cooperation. Only together can we tackle this highly lucrative, and equally dangerous type of crime.”

Maarten Alleman was just as positive as he commented: “Working with Europol has been a great synergy: combining our data and technology has accelerated our work enormously and we're happy to play a key role in operations like the Global Airline Action Days.”

Over the last years, we have seen a slight decrease in fraud, but there is still a lot to do. Therefore, we at Perseuss are excited to continue working with Europol and this partnership is a great step forward in our joint mission to fight fraud.
